Over a billion people are estimated to live with some form of disability, according to the World Health Organization. As today we celebrate the International Day of People with Disabilities, we recognise that now, more than ever, ISO standards can play a part to make the world more accessible for all.

Fast changing technology has changed the lives of persons with disabilities, giving them access to communications, information, workplaces and more. This year's theme is Sustainable Development: The Promise of Technology, with the aim to harness the power of technology to break down barriers and promote the participation of persons with disabilities.
ISO standards are an important tool, because they give manufacturers, service providers, designers and policy makers the specifications and guidelines on how to design products and services that are accessible to all.
