ISO 14001 Awareness Training

Who needs this course?
This course is designed for all levels of management. In particular the course is addressed to:
• those responsible for the implementation of environmental management systems or the maintenance of existing systems
• companies wishing to enhance the awareness of all personnel involved in and affected by implementation of ISO 14001
• seafarers on board implementing EMAS especially in tanker vessels
• everyone in an organization using the ISO 9001 framework

Course objectives
The scope of this course is to create a basic awareness of Environmental Management System (EMS) based on ISO 14001 Standard and its benefits. More analytically
• Basic concepts in environmental management and issues
• The principles of an environmental management system
• The requirements of ISO 14001 and its implementation
• Objective, targets, operational control and emergency preparedness in controlling environmental impacts
• Importance of the identification  and control of environmental aspects and impacts in all types of business activities
• How to evaluate and assess environmental aspects and impacts and their significance
• Importance of documented management system to control environment
• Implementation on ISO 14001

 Course Content:
• Introduction to the (ISO) International Organization for Standardization; infrastructure, development process and procedures
• An introduction to the environmental issues, historical evolution of approaches to the environment
• Introduction of basic concepts and terminology associated with environmental management
• Introduction to the benefits through implementation of ISO 14001
• Detailed review and interpretation of the requirements of ISO 14001 standard
Prerequisites:
Prior knowledge of QMS ISO 9000, OHSAS 18000, and environmental issues would be beneficial
