The Power of Water- World Water Day

Make a difference with over 1 000 energy and water standards on World Water Day! Celebrated on 22 March, this year it focuses on the nexus of water and energy.

Water and energy are closely interlinked. Water withdrawal by the energy sector is expected to rise one-fifth by 2035, while the amount consumed increases by a more dramatic 85 %. Energy is also needed to provide freshwater, including to power systems that collect, transport, distribute and treat it.
